Juneteenth Celebration

Dawn of a New Era

NSBE-HSC is partnering with the Boeing Black Employee Association, African American Aerospace Network, and National Technical Association-Houston Chapter to sponsor a NASA family celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery.

Event Date:       Thursday, June 19, 2003  4:00 - 6:00 pm

Location:          Gilruth Center Large Pavilion

NSBE-HSC invites you to join us as we celebrate our freedom in cooperation with NTA, AAAN, and the BBEA!  Enjoy food, music, and cultural enrichment at the Gilruth Center’s large pavilion area for a dinner and program starting at 4:00 pm.

 

Dinner will be served from 4:00 - 5:15 pm and includes two pieces of Frenchy’s Creole fried chicken, collard greens, dirty rice, cake, cornbread, and soda.  Also enjoy the NSBE/NTA Juneteenth Historical Gallery and learn some of the history behind Juneteenth.

 

The Juneteenth program will start at 5:00 pm and will feature the Divinite Gospel Group and the Abundant Love Christian Center Praise Dancers.  Tickets for the dinner are $7.00 and must be purchased by Monday, June 16.  There is no cost for those who wish to attend only the program.
